Vadim Y. Bogachov was born in Moscow on September 16, 1963. Studied at the secondary school No. 224 from 1970 to 1980. Entered NI Pirogov 2nd Moscow Order of Lenin State Medical Institute in 1980, from which graduated with honours in 1986. After graduation, he enrolled in the clinical residency program at the Department of Faculty Surgery in 1986. After graduating from the residency, he began his studies for a PhD at the same Department, which he completed in 1990, defending ahead of schedule his PhD thesis «Combined Ultrasound Diagnosis of Posttrombophlebitic Disease of Lower Extremities» majoring in surgery (scientific supervisor Academician V.S. Saveliev, Curator, Prof. G.D. Konstantinov). In 1990-1995, he worked as an assistant to the Department of Faculty Surgery at N.I. Pirogov Russian State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Moscow, and as the leading research associate in the Professor V.S. Savelyev Academic Group of at AN Bakulev National Medical Research Center of Cardiovascular Surgery. In 1999, he defended his doctoral dissertation «New Technologies for Diagnosis and Treatment of Varicose Veins of Lower Extremities» majoring in surgery (scientific adviser Academician V.S. Saveliev). From 2001 to 2009, he worked as the main scientific employee of the Problem Research Laboratory of Angiology, Anesthesiology and Resuscitation of the Russian State Medical University. From 2009 to 2017, he headed the Department of Angiology and Vascular Surgery of the Research Institute of Clinical Surgery of N.I. Pirogov Russian Research Medical University. Since 2017 - Professor of the Department of Faculty Surgery No 2 N.I. Pirogov Russian Research Medical University, head of the course of Outpatient Surgery and Hospital Substitution Technologies.
In 2005, he received the academic title of Professor in the specialty of surgery. Among other employees of the Faculty Surgical Clinic, he was awarded with the Russian Federation Government Prize in Science and Technology for developing new technologies for diagnosis and treatment of venous diseases in 2005.
He is the author and co-author of more than 350 scientific works, including 4 monographs, 2 textbooks, and 13 inventions. Six candidate and one doctoral thesis were defended under his scientific guidance.
